Building a Data Vault in the Cloud with Snowflake

Recommended Skills with Data Vault:  Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Recommended Skills with Snowflake: Beginner Tool Skills

Abstract:

As organizations modernize their data analytics ecosystem, they are turning to the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform to take advantage of the performance, elasticity, concurrency, simplicity, and lower cost. We all know that the Data Vault 2.0 System of Business Intelligence gave us a better, more agile system for designing and deploying highly flexible, scalable, and adaptable data structures for enterprise data repositories regardless of the underlying technology.

So what are the additional benefits a Data Vault 2.0 style warehouse can get from migrating to Snowflake? In this lab you will be introduced to the unique capabilities provided in Snowflake that can be leveraged to make your Data Vault 2.0 system more agile, flexible, and scalable. In the end you will build a small data vault yourself in your own personal Snowflake account and see first hand what it can do for you, and how easy it is to go from Zero to Snowflake in no time at all.

Topics Covered:

  • Introduction to Snowflake Cloud Data Platform
  • Applying Snowflake features to Data Vault
  • Handling of Semi-structured Data in a Data Vault on Snowflake
  • Hands-On Session
  • Zero to Snowflake (Snowflake basics)
  • Creating and Populating a Data Vault Model in Snowflake
  • Q&A

BEFORE ATTENDING YOU MUST:
