Theresa Ayerst is an experienced, hands-on data warehouse architect involved in the architecture, design, and implementation of numerous data warehouses and application databases. With over 19 years’ experience, she has significant expertise in data, application, integration, and enterprise architecture.
With what started as a career in IT as a web developer, Theresa quickly developed a passion for data management & systems architecture. Her first experience in the data management field was in designing and loading operational data stores. She then moved into a Data Warehousing role with a team whose experience, and architecture was best explained as a ‘traditional data warehouse’ or ‘hybrid/combination of different methodologies and modelling concepts’, including many Kimball data warehousing techniques and IIW concepts. That is until they discovered Data Vault 2.0.
In her current role as Sr solution Designer – ITSD, Co-operators Life Insurance Company, Theresa leads the architecture practice for Data Governance, Design and Development. A Certified Data Vault Professional since 2016, Theresa has a solid understanding of Agile methodologies and how Data Vault fits within them and streamlines agile delivery cycles, the advantages of using Data Vault over other data modeling concepts, and the true meaning of working with all data, including the good, the bad, and the ugly.
